GGD Low Voltage Fixed Switchgear

RAYDAFON GGD low voltage fixed switchgear delivers up to 3150A rated current and 50kA/1s short-circuit withstand (105kA peak) in a robust 8MF cold-formed steel cabinet. Three models — GGD1 / GGD2 / GGD3 — cover 1000A to 3150A for AC 50Hz distribution systems at 380V. Natural bottom-to-top ventilation, rotary movable door hinges, and GB7251-compliant construction. Ideal for power plants, substations, mining, and industrial distribution.

What Is GGD Low Voltage Fixed Switchgear?

GGD is a type of AC low voltage fixed distribution cabinet used in power plants, substations, mining enterprises, and industrial facilities. It operates on AC 50Hz with 380V rated working voltage and rated current up to 3150A, serving power conversion, distribution, and control of power, lighting, and distribution equipment. Unlike draw-out switchgear where functional units are removable, GGD uses a fixed mounting design — every breaker, contactor, and meter is bolted to the frame. This simple architecture delivers high short-circuit withstand, low maintenance, and long-term reliability for main distribution boards, incoming feeders, and reactive compensation cabinets.

Three Capacity Grades — GGD1 / GGD2 / GGD3

Capacity Ladder

GGD1 1000A 15kA / 30kA
GGD2 1500A 30kA / 63kA
GGD3 3150A 50kA / 105kA

Three capacity grades share the same platform. GGD1 handles small distribution systems; GGD2 covers medium industrial loads; GGD3 delivers high-capacity main distribution. The cabinet dimensions, busbar cross-section, and short-circuit withstand scale with the model — pick the grade that matches your incoming transformer capacity and load profile.

Three Structural Design Principles

8MF

8MF Cold-Formed Steel Frame

The framework uses 8MF cold-formed steel, partially welded and partially assembled. Special supporting parts are supplied by designated steel production factories to ensure dimensional accuracy and quality consistency across every unit. The universal cabinet design simplifies production and shortens lead time.

↑↓

Natural Bottom-to-Top Ventilation

Heat dissipation slots at both the top and bottom of the cabinet create a continuous airflow path. Warm air from operating components rises and exits through the upper slots while cool air is drawn in through the lower slots, forming a self-sustaining convection channel without fans or filters.

⤺

Rotary Movable Door Hinge

The cabinet door connects to the frame with rotary movable hinges, making installation and disassembly easy. A mountain-shaped rubber strip is embedded in the door's folding edge — when closed, it compresses slightly between door and frame, preventing direct metal-to-metal collision and improving the door's ingress protection level.

Industry Applications

  • Power Plants — Auxiliary power distribution for thermal, hydro, and renewable power plants. GGD3 handles main incoming feeder duty while GGD1 covers auxiliary and lighting circuits.
  • Substations — LV main distribution boards downstream of the distribution transformer. Fixed-mount construction reduces maintenance and increases reliability in unmanned substations. See prefabricated substations →
  • Mining Enterprises — Rugged cabinet construction and natural ventilation suit dusty, high-temperature mining environments where forced-air cooling would require frequent filter maintenance.
  • Industrial Manufacturing Plants — Main and sub-distribution for automotive, chemical, steel, cement, and textile plants. GGD2 and GGD3 handle motor control and heavy load switching. See LV switchgear range →
  • Commercial Buildings & Hospitals — Lighting and power distribution for office towers, shopping malls, and healthcare facilities. GGD1 provides cost-effective compact distribution.
  • Water Treatment Plants — Pump control and distribution for municipal water and wastewater facilities.
  • OEM Panel Builders — Licensed GGD supply for panel builders that require GB7251-compliant fixed-mount distribution cabinets for system integration projects.
  • Retrofit & Upgrade Projects — Replacement of legacy fixed-mount LV cabinets while maintaining existing busbar positions and cable entry layouts. See fixed switchgear range →

Frequently Asked Questions

What is GGD low voltage fixed switchgear?
GGD is a type of AC low voltage fixed distribution cabinet used in power plants, substations, mining enterprises, and industrial facilities. It operates on AC 50Hz with rated working voltage 380V and rated current up to 3150A. The GGD cabinet is designed for power conversion, distribution, and control of power, lighting, and distribution equipment. Unlike draw-out switchgear, all functional units in GGD are fixed in position — the design emphasizes structural simplicity, high short-circuit withstand, and low maintenance.
What are the differences between GGD1, GGD2, and GGD3?
GGD1, GGD2, and GGD3 are three capacity grades of the same GGD platform. GGD1 is rated up to 1000A with 15kA short-circuit withstand and 30kA peak — suitable for small distribution systems. GGD2 is rated up to 1500(1600)A with 30kA withstand and 63kA peak — for medium industrial loads. GGD3 is rated up to 3150A with 50kA withstand and 105kA peak — for main distribution boards in large plants and high-capacity substations. The cabinet dimensions, busbar cross-section, and breaker rating scale with the model.
How does natural ventilation work in the GGD cabinet?
The GGD cabinet uses a passive natural convection design. Heat dissipation slots are distributed at both the top and bottom of the cabinet. As electrical components inside heat up, the warm air rises and exits through the upper slots. Cool air is continuously drawn in through the lower slots, creating a continuous bottom-to-top airflow. This eliminates the need for forced-air fans while maintaining safe internal temperatures, reducing both energy consumption and maintenance.
What is the maximum rated current and short-circuit withstand?
The GGD series covers up to 3150A rated current (GGD3 model) with 50kA/1s short-time withstand current and 105kA peak withstand current. This is sufficient for most industrial low voltage distribution applications, including main incoming feeders in large factories and substations. For higher ratings up to 6300A, consider our Cooper Edison LSN or Schneider BlokSet 5000 switchgear platforms.
What is the delivery time and MOQ?
Standard GGD configurations ship within 30-50 days from order confirmation. MOQ is 1 unit. Custom busbar ratings, protection schemes, or communication integration may require 50-70 days. We accept sample orders for validation testing.
Can GGD integrate with higher-capacity switchgear?
Yes. GGD is often deployed as a sub-distribution layer downstream of larger LV main boards. RAYDAFON manufactures a complete range of LV switchgear — including GGD fixed, Cooper Edison LSN drawer, and Schneider BlokSet 5000 — so mixed systems can be supplied from one factory with coordinated protection and busbar interfaces.
